Region Zealand safeguards tasks, services and interests for a total of 821.000 citizens. The wide range of services is spread out across 22 cities in the Region.
A large workplace
The main tasks of the Region are:
- The running and development of the Region’s hospitals
- The running and development of mental health services and social institutions
- Regional transport planning
- Soil and water conservation
Region Zealand is the region’s largest workplace with more than 17.000 employees and a total budget of appox. 18,7 billion DKK.
Most of the employees work in the health care system and in the psychiatric units, or help children and adults in highly specialised social institutions.
Services of the highest quality
Region Zealand has a major role in a network of cooperating partners, who work for a dynamic and coordinated development throughout the region, i.a. for business, education, urban development, public infrastructure and certain environmental areas.
Thus, Region Zealand must make an over all outline for all the services, as well as securing that they are of the highest quality.
The bridge builder
The vision of Region Zealand is entitled “The bridge builder”.
Our aim is to build bridges between other regions and countries as well as between different stakeholders, e.g. between the educational sector and the business community.
Our vision illustrates the Region’s ambition to create the best possible framework for sustainable growth and for our citizens’ quality of life – through our location and through dialogue and knowledge sharing.
